Let the crop set the scale
A handful of herbs or a small bowl of vegetables is still a harvest. Choose a familiar meal that can include what is ready rather than expecting the plot to supply everything. Identify produce confidently and follow appropriate washing, storage, and preparation guidance for what you have grown.
Keep preparation simple
Use a dish you already know so the ingredient has a chance to be noticed. Bring the harvest into the kitchen in a clean container and put tools away before starting food preparation. The satisfaction comes from the connection between the growing space and the meal, not from turning dinner into a performance.
Remember more than the quantity
Make a note of when the crop was ready and what you enjoyed about using it. A modest result can reveal which plants fit your habits. Next season, choose with that experience in mind. Growing something you look forward to eating is a more personal measure of success than comparing your basket with someone else’s photograph.
